Default Black Lines

OK, I posted about this quite some time ago and have been working on the problem for even longer but I still have not found a solution.

When playing, light-black lines appear on the screen diagonally from the top left to the bottom right. These lines appear every inch and are around a quarter of an inch wide.

Upon closer inspection, the lines are always present, even when I'm just on the desktop. They are very hard to see in everything but Guild Wars, though.

During Guild Wars, the lines are easiest to see when moving and/or in desert levels like The Primeval Tombs.

Here are a list of things I've tried doing:

Getting new drivers
Changing monitors
Reinstalled windows
Tweaked with every single video option I could find
Changed the desktop resolution
Opened the computer case and pointed a fan inside

Does anyone know anything else I can do?

BTW, the problem does not show up in screenshots.

try taking your video card out and see what intergrated looks like, this can help totally rule out if it is your graphics card or not. I wonder if it is video cable to ur system, I only say this cause you swapped out monitors and had same prob AND that the lines do not show in screenshots. dunno, let us know.

When my character is moving, the textures seem to flash. It's strange.

In Half Life 2 some of the textures seem to flash as well.

Is this a video card issue? Or could it be my RAM?

that sounds like a video card issue...the refresh rate isn't very high

How would I increase the refresh rate?

Intergrated means that your processor is handeling ALL aspects of the game, from rendering to textures and all that good stuff, but looks MUCH worse since you have no T&L and you tax the processor so much. the graphics will be muddy and game slow but you can see if the problem lays with your graphics card or not if the problem persists. If the lines go away then maybe its your card, if not then maybe re-install GW or even drivers or Direct X.

It is just a suggestion, half the battle of trouble shooting is completely ruling out certain areas.

Would I have to physically remove the card?

Could I just uninstall the video drivers? Wouldn't that have the same effect?

yes, re-seating is physically taking the card out and putting it back in. MAKE SURE YOUR GROUNDED WHEN MESSING INSIDE UR CASE!!! You should only do this is u feel totally comfy about going inside your system. re-seating has helped me two seperate times with video issues when drivers did not work. but this answer is not concrete and it may be a diff issue.

Err, No.

Integrated means that the chipset is physically soldiered onto the main board. It has nothing to do with your processor. The GPU is often in a half sized circuit. While it does Use system ram it often taxes your system no more or less then a normal Video card. Not in all cases will an integrated Video Chipset lack HW T&L. In fact in many cases new systems with integrated video chipset like the ati 9800 and nvidia FX series, are fully capable integrated chipsets.

OK I did that and the black lines remain!!!

I can also rule out software issues since I have reinstalled windows.

it is your video card 99.9% sure, considering you are getting texture issues in other games. I would suggest sending back to the company that made it... and get warrenty work done... and if it out of warrenty then I hope you have the cash to buy a new one because it will only get worst

Alright, I believe now there is nothing I can do on this end.

Yes it is under warranty.

I just feel hesitant to bring my computer to the shop and tell him there are black lines over the screen which are hard to see regularly but are dominant in guild wars.
